Tectonic earthquakes hit Sarangani province and Eastern Samar on Thursday evening, March 26, 2020, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) confirmed.
According to an update by GMA News, a magnitude 6.0 earthquake hits Maasim, Sarangani at 11:38 p.m. The quake was also felt in Davao City.
Based on Philvolcs’ released earthquake information, aftershocks should be expected.
The entire Sarangani is currently under general community quarantine to prevent coronavirus disease from entering the province as there is no case recorded yet in the area.
Meanwhile, Sunstar Davao posted that just four minutes before the Sarangani quake, a magnitude 4.0 earthquake also shook Eastern Samar.
According to Philvolcs’ data, the epicenter of the shaking is in Guiuan. Aftershocks are unlikely to happen based on the agency’s information.
