Magnitude 7.5 earthquake jolts Russia amid COVID-19 pandemic

- Russia was hit by a powerful earthquake today amid the novel coronavirus pandemic

- It was reported that the said natural phenomenon was magnitude 7.5

- The earthquake rocked the country’s Kuril Islands and tsunami warnings were also raised

A powerful earthquake rocked an area in Russia amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

KAMI learned that a magnitude 7.5 quake hit the country’s Kuril Islands today, March 25.

Tsunami warnings were raised as soon as the earthquake struck but they were eventually lifted since "only very small tsunami waves were generated.”

The Japan Meteorological Association, however, said that the public must watch out for possible tidal changes as hours pass by.

Meanwhile, no reports have been released yet about the damage of the phenomenon in the said country.
