65-year-old congressional staff member dies of COVID-19

- The 65-year-old staff member of congress who was being investigated for a possible coronavirus infection has died

- House Secretary-General has confirmed this on Saturday, the same day that the staff died

- The staff was admitted to St. Luke's on March 13 after his initial onset of cough and fever worsened

- The positive result was known after his death on Saturday, March 21

A 65-year Congressional staff member who was investigated as a possible COVID-19 case has died on Saturday, March 21, 2020.

The report was confirmed by House Secretary-Genera Jose Luis Montales.

According to an Inquirer report authored by Katrina Hallare, the patient had no travel history and he was not also exposed to a confirmed coronavirus case.

He had, however, pre-existing medical ailments, which were no longer elaborated by Montales.

An account of his activities prior to his confinement revealed that he still worked on March 4, attended a wedding in Cavite on March 7, visited St. Luke's on March 10 for fever but went back home after his tests showed normal results.

On March 13, he was admitted to St. Luke's after his cough and fever worsened, eventually placed in ICU and intubated.

As per Rappler, the result of his test for coronavirus came out after his death on March 21, 2020.

Manila Bulletin reported that the case of the 65-year-old is the second person connected to the Congress who died from COVID-19.
