MRT fare 2020 Philippines: a comprehensive guide
There are thousands of Filipinos who struggle with their daily commute. Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 3, also known as the MRT Line 3, is a speedy transport system in the Philippines. The line runs in an orbital north to south route, which serves 13 stations.
MRT stations
MRT is very accessible as it has 13 stations located within the metro. The southern terminal is the Taft Avenue, while the northern terminal is the North Avenue station.

MRT rails are mostly elevated and erected either over or along the roads covered with sections below ground before and after Buendia and Ayala stations.
Currently, three of the stations serve as interchanges between the lines operated by the MRTC, Light Rail Transit Authority, and PNR.
- Magallanes station is located near the PNR's EDSA station.
- Araneta Center-Cubao station is connected by a covered walkway to its same name station of LRT line 2.
- Taft Avenue station is connected via a covered walkway to the EDSA station of the LRT line 1.

How much is the MRT fare in Philippines?
MRT's fare in the Philippines is based on the station or location you will be going to. It ranges from 13 pesos to 28 pesos. One can choose to either purchase the single-journey ticket or the stored value ticket (where you can load it with as much as you want). The single journey ticket's price can only be used on the day of purchase, while the stored value ticket can be used anytime as long as it has enough balance; otherwise, you will need to reload it.

Here is the list of the MRT fare rate:
- For the first two stations: 13 pesos
- For the 3rd and 4th station: 16 pesos
- For the 5th to 7th station: 20 pesos
- For the 8th to 10th station: 24 pesos
- For the last station: 28 pesos.
- For children that are below 3 ft. and 4.4 inches, they may ride for free.
There are four types of tickets a commuter can purchase to be able to ride the train:
- Single Journey Ticket (which is valid only on the day of purchase, between 13 pesos to 28 pesos)
- Single Journey discount (with 20% discount for Senior Citizens and PWDs)
- Stored Value Ticket (considered as a multiple ride ticket and is valid for three months from the date of purchase, with 100 pesos and last ride bonus)
- Stored Value Ticket discount (with 20% discount for Senior Citizens and PWDs with last ride bonus)
