Philippine National Police chief Gen. Archie Gamboa ordered on Tuesday the arrest of public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers that are still operating during the enhanced community quarantine.

KAMI learned that aside from arrest, the vehicles of the violators can be impounded once caught.

In a report by the Philippine Star (authored by Ratziel San Juan), Gamboa said that he immediately ordered the Highway Patrol Group to arrest those who would violate the enhanced community quarantine that suspended any modes of public transportation.

“Sinabihan ko kanina ang Highway Patrol specific na hulihin niyo lahat, kung kailangan i-impound natin, of course problema na naman saan i-impound... so that the people will just see really we will enforce the law,” Gamboa said in an interview on CNN Philippines.

Despite the declaration of enhanced community quarantine all over Luzon on Monday, some PUV drivers still operated today, Tuesday.

Through a Facebook post of ABS-CBN News, the PNP-HPG halted all the taxis along EDSA following the suspension of mass transportation in Metro Manila.
