The Department of Education (DepEd) has issued a memorandum for the remainder of School Year 2019-2020.

KAMI learned as per DepEd, public schools included in community quarantine are no longer allowed to conduct final examinations.

In a report by the Philippine Star, DepEd also released a guideline regarding graduation rites, grading transmutation formula, and online classes.

“In areas where classes have been suspended by the relevant national or local authorities for the week of March 16 to 20 and thus preventing the holding of the scheduled 4th Quarter Examination, such as in NCR and in areas where local government units have suspended classes, the 4th Quarter Examination will no longer be administered,” it read in the DepEd Memorandum No. 042, s. 2020.

As reported by CNN Philippines, DepEd said that schools that wish to hold classes must conduct the exams this week, but on a staggered basis.

“Further academic requirements, if any, shall be done as home-based assignments,” it read.

DepEd also “highly encouraged” private schools to follow its new guidelines.

According to a report by the ABS-CBN News, President Rodrigo Duterte suspended the classes in Metro Manila until April 14 amid the community quarantine.
