Photos of Pinoys struggling to go to work amid community quarantine go viral

Today marks the first day of employees going back to their work after President Rodrigo Duterte declared community quarantine all over Metro Manila which took effect on Sunday.

KAMI learned that on Monday morning, many Filipinos struggled during their daily commute going back to their offices.

Through a Facebook post by the Inquirer, it showed that there was a long queue of people between the boundary of North Caloocan and San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, as military officials check every person’s identification card and temperature.

A Facebook post of ABS-CBN showed a photo of commuters having a hard time catching a ride along Commonwealth Avenue. Public transport officials and drivers have been following the social distancing amid the coronavirus threat.

Other netizens also shared photos of commuters not being able to observe social distancing at different checkpoints due to the volume of people and vehicles.

As previously reported by KAMI, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed 12 reported deaths related to coronavirus disease.

President Duterte on Friday announced that Metro Manila will be undergoing community quarantine starting last Sunday. People from other provinces will not be allowed to enter Metro Manila and social distancing must be observed.

As of posting time, the DOH has confirmed a total of 140 coronavirus cases in the Philippines. Two of them have recovered.
