5 COVID-19 patients have recovered according to the Department of Health

- Five of the confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country have recovered according to Health Secretary Francisco Duque

- This is following the 111 confirmed cases which were reported on Saturday including the total number of 8 fatalities

- 72 other individuals are waiting for the test results while 638 have tested negative for the virus

- Case Nos. 1 and 3 were among those who recovered who were both Chinese tourists and have returned to China already

Health Secretary Francisco Duque said that 5 COVID-19 patients had recovered. In an interview on radio DZMM, the Secretary of Health said that the Health Department is still waiting for the results of 72 persons under investigation (PUI). 638 more have tested negative for the COVID-19.

"Matagal talaga ang recovery period. Sa mild to moderate cases of COVID-19 infection, (recovery) is anywhere from 2-3 weeks. Yung critical aabutin lampas ng 1 buwan, 3-6 weeks. So hindi madali," Duque said.

The first and third cases in the country who were both Chinese tourists were among those who recovered. They have returned to China.

He also said that the number of positive cases will more likely increase.

"Pagka gumawa tayo ng marami pang testing, baka may positive na marami dyan, so liliit yung case mortality rate...'yan 'yung number of deaths over number of infection," he added.

The current confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country is 111 including 8 fatalities.

According to Worldometer, there are 157,457 coronavirus cases worldwide, with 5,845 deaths and 75,953 have already recovered.

Meanwhile, it was earlier reported that province bound passengers flocked to Araneta Bus Terminals in Cubao City following the president's community quarantine announcement.
