For the first time since the novel coronavirus became a pandemic, South Korea announced that the number of their cured patients is higher than the new recorded cases.
KAMI learned that the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) tallied 110 newly-infected people on Friday, March 13.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the said country rose to 7,979, while 70 people did not survive.
However, on the aforementioned date, South Korea was able to release 177 patients who were initially isolated for treatment.
It marked the first time in the said Asian country that the number of cured patients was higher than the number of new infections.
It is believed that the development in South Korea will bring hope to other countries that are greatly affected by the pandemic.
“We’ve managed to turn the corner, but there are concerns about overseas inflows, as well as possible infections at home around such facilities as call centers, computer cafes, and karaoke rooms,” Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun stated.
