President Rodrigo Duterte has declared a community quarantine in Metro Manila to minimize the spread of the COVID-19.
KAMI learned that several celebrities have reacted to the new development regarding the country’s fight against the virus.
They include Bianca Gonzalez, Alex Gonzaga, Luis Manzano, Gretchen Ho, and Atom Araullo.
Some of them discussed the difficulty of checking the IDs of the millions of people going in and out of Metro Manila while one of them expressed his gratitude towards the health workers who are risking their safety to help people.
Here are their viral reactions:
Bianca Gonzalez: “Words matter because choice of words make us feel emotions. I appreciate the use of ‘community quarantine’ rather than ‘lockdown’. Emotions matter because we tend to make bad decisions when in fear or panicking, versus when our mind is calm and clear.”
Gretchen Ho: “We need more specifications of this #lockdown. Never thought I’d see the day.”
Atom Araullo: “Population in Metro Manila is estimated at 12M but swells to around 15M during the daytime because of all the people coming in from nearby provinces. If they are checked for identification one by one at checkpoints, that would be some kind of a nightmare.”
Luis Manzano: “Thank you to all the health workers, scientists, reporters, and cleaners for trying to keep the country safe and healthy”
Alex Gonzaga: “As for the Community Quarantine naman, sa lahat ng nakatira outside Metro Manila pero dito nagtatrabaho.. i feel you. Paano kaya tayo on Monday? As Rizaleños or Suburbs pips, We will get through the traffic of checking our IDs”
KAMI previously reported that Alex’s new vlog featuring her mother Pinty went viral on social media.
Alex Gonzaga was born on January 16, 1988 in the Philippines as Catherine Mae Cruz Gonzaga. She started her career on ABS-CBN's sitcom, Let's Go. Aside from her acting and hosting career, she is also one of the most successful vloggers in the country.
