ABS-CBN apologizes for posting ‘Metro Manila lockdown’ ahead of announcement

- ABS-CBN announced on its social media page that the Metro Manila will be placed on a lockdown

- The post was taken down since the President of the Philippines has yet to issue an order

- The said network apologized for mistakenly uploading a poster about the lockdown

- It also disclosed that all the persons involved in the controversial error will be punished

The Kapamilya network has issued an apology to the public for posting about the lockdown in Metro Manila even before President Rodrigo Duterte announced it.

KAMI learned that the social media team of the said company “inadvertently” uploaded a poster that said Metro Manila is being placed on a lockdown due to novel coronavirus.

The official announcement from the head of state just came on Thursday evening so many netizens wondered why ABS-CBN posted such information.

The post was already deleted on social media, but based on screenshots of some people, the network had two different announcements in one post.

Because of that, the Kapamilya network issued an apology and it explained that their social media team posted a draft art card in preparation for possible scenarios.

It also mentioned that those who are responsible for the mistake will be punished since there was no official declaration of a lockdown during the time of posting.

Here is the official statement:

“Earlier today, ABS-CBN News inadvertently posted a draft art card on COVID-19 situation while preparing for possible scenarios. There remains to be no declaration of a lockdown in Metro Manila as of this time. We deeply regret the error. We are instituting disciplinary measures against personnel involved in the erroneous posting.”

ABS-CBN is a giant media and entertainment industry in the Philippines. It is now facing a serious issue with its franchise which will expire this month.
