- Metro Manila is placed under quarantine halting travel in and out of the capital region
- This will be effective from March 15 until April 14, 2020, amid the rising cases of COVID-19
- The government also raised the response alert level to Code Red, Sub-level 2 which means sustained community transmission
Metro Manila is placed under quarantine as announced by President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday. The travel restriction on traveling in and out of Metro Manila to contain COVID-19 from March 15 until April 14, 2020.
Code Red Sub-level 2 is also raised which means "sustained community transmission," as per health officials.
The urgent meeting with the inter-agency task force on COVID-19 response took place prior to the announcement.
"Community quarantine is hereby imposed in the entirety of Metro Manila," said the president.
Travel restrictions on land, domestic air, and domestic sea travel to and from Metro Manila will be prohibited during the period.
The class suspension in Metro Manila is also extended until April 12, 2020. The suspension of classes in all levels in Metro Manila, which started March 10, will be extended until April 12, 2020.
