Senator Win Gatchalian now in self-quarantine after interacting with COVID-19 positive person

- It has been recently reported that Senator Win Gatchalian will be in self-quarantine

- The senator announced on Wednesday night that the Senate hearing he attended was also attended by a person who tested positive for coronavirus disease

- As of posting time, the senator is still healthy and does not show any symptoms

- Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III will also be in self-quarantine

- Dominguez attended a meeting which was also attended by an individual who tested positive for COVID-19

Senator Win Gatchalian announced on Wednesday night that he would be in self-quarantine amid the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) outbreak.

KAMI learned that the senator interacted with a person who tested positive for the coronavirus.

In a report by the Inquirer (authored by Darryl John Esguerra), Gatchalian shared that a resource person who attended the Committee on Basic Education, Arts, and Culture hearing last March 5, 2020.

“I have recently been informed that a resource person who attended the hearing of the Committee on Basic Education, Arts and Culture last March 5, 2020, which I Chair, has tested positive for COVID-19,” Gatchalian said.

As reported by the Manila Bulletin, Gatchalian said that while he is asymptomatic and is feeling healthy, he still opts to follow the protocols set by the government.

“Though I am asymptomatic and feel healthy, I will follow government set protocols on such cases and go into self-quarantine immediately given that I interacted with the said individual during that committee hearing,” it read in his post.

According to a report by the CNN Philippines, Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III will also be in self-quarantine after attending a meeting which was also attended by an individual who tested positive for coronavirus.

Dominguez has not shown any symptoms and he has not been interacting with President Rodrigo Duterte since.

As previously reported by KAMI, the Department of Health (DOH) announced that an additional 16 people tested positive for COVID-19, making a total of 49 cases in the Philippines.
