Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez has confirmed that two San Juan residents tested positive at a private hospital in the city.

KAMI learned that the patients are a couple and they are confined at the Unihealth-Parañaque Hospital and Medical Center.

In a report by the ABS-CBN News, the couple opted to go to the Parañaque hospital because their child worked there.

However, the patients were transferred to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine in Muntinlupa for full treatment.

Through a Facebook post on Monday, Mayor Olivarez said that the couple has a travel history to Indonesia.

“Today, March 9, 2020, two persons non-residents of Paranaque, with history of travel to Indonesia, tested positive for COVID 19,” it read in the post.

“I wish to assure our constituents that your City Government is exerting all efforts in the implementation of all procedures and protocols imposed by the National Government through the Department of Health in addressing the COVID 19 National Public Health Emergency,” it added.

In a different Facebook post, the Parañaque mayor said that the local government has been doing a contact tracing to know if the couple were able to spread the coronavirus in the city.

“Tayo po ay nagsasagawa na din ng contact tracing dito po sa ating lungsod kung sakaling may iba pang lugar na napuntahan ang mag asawang nagpositibo dito po sa ating lungsod,” he said.
