Italy is now in total lockdown after coronavirus cases continue to rise

- Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has declared a total lockdown all over Italy on Monday

- Conte has extended the restrictions on the entire country to protect its population

- All of the public events in Italy have been temporarily suspended as well

- There were about more than 9,000 cases of coronavirus disease in Italy

- Out of those cases, about 463 patients passed away due to the disease

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has declared a total lockdown all over Italy on Monday due to the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) outbreak.

KAMI learned that the Prime Minister decided to extend the restrictions that were already placed in north Italy.

According to a report by CNN World (authored by Emma Reynolds and Rob Picheta), Conte also announced during the press conference that public events are temporarily banned in the country.

“All the measure of the red zones are now extended to all of the national territory,” Conte said.

As reported by The Guardian, more than 60 million people in Italy are affected by the lockdown. The Prime Minister explained that the lockdown is a measure to protect the population of the country, most especially the fragile individuals.

“There is no more time. I will take responsibility for these measures. Our future is in our hands,” he said.

In a report by the Business Insider (authored by Rhea Mahbubani), there have been more than 9,100 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease in Italy. Meanwhile, about 463 patients have died because of the virus.
