Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa got involved in a helicopter crash in San Pedro, Laguna, on Thursday morning.

KAMI learned that the helicopter reportedly crashed a few minutes after its take-off.

In a report by the CNN Philippines, the helicopter hit the wires before it crashed.

"'Yung field na helipad namin medyo pag-flight niya, nag-zero visibility. 'Yung chopper talagang sobrang alikabok, tumama po sa wires. 'Yun ang reason kaya bumagsak ang ating chopper,” PNP-Highway Patrol Group (HPG) Chief Col. Wilson Doromal said.

Dormal also mentioned that the PNP chief was sitting in the “safe side” of the helicopter when the incident happened.

"Nasa safe side siya (Gamboa), nasa right side siya ng chopper so medyo safe naman po si Chief PNP. Naka-seatbelt naman po lahat sila noong nag-recover kami," he added.

As reported by GMA News Online, the helicopter was seen burning after it crashed in Laguna. Gamboa and 7 others were rushed to the Westlake Medical Center.

According to the Philippine Star, Gamboa was conscious when he was taken out of the helicopter.
