An online post has been circulating on social media claiming that the Department of Health (DOH) and Bureau of Immigration (BI) issued a “look-out bulletin” that a Chinese man from Wuhan “escaped” the quarantine when he arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

However, KAMI learned that the claim was false and was just misleading the netizens.

In a report by French news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP), the bulletin post mentioned that all law enforcement agencies were tasked to arrest the person who was on-board China Eastern Airlines.

“The Department of Health and the Bureau of Immigration has issued a look-out bulletin to all law enforcement agency for the arrest and detention of the person in the picture below,” it read in the post.

“Said person arrived at NAIA from Wuhan, China, on board China Eastern Airlines and escaped the Quarantine Area for N-COV. People are advised not to get closer 2-6 feet from the said Chinese Alien or risk contracting the N-COV. Pls pass,” it added.

Through a Facebook post, the BI has called the claim as a “hoax.”

“The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Sunday clarified that the story of a foreign national who allegedly escaped the quarantine area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) that went viral on social media was a hoax,” it read in the post.
