Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is busy traveling around the world; wherever she goes, she brings with her the Filipino pride by wearing #FilipinoDesigners in most of her special gigs – charity and fundraising events, red carpet, TV shows, and others.
For instance, during one of her first gigs with the crown, she wore a blue halter strap jumpsuit designed by Jot Los. She was then a special correspondent for the Super.
The Filipina beauty queen is not only making a name for herself in the different kinds of industries she gets involved in. She also makes sure that the people around the world will be able to see and appreciate the Filipino people and the Philippines.
Pia has already said in an interview done months ago that she already obtained the approval from the Miss Universe organization to wear more outfits Filipino designers.
“I’ve always told Miss Universe that if I can, I want to wear Filipino designers as much as possible and pinakita ko sa kanila (I showed it to them). They were very impressed and I got the thumbs up to wear them so I’m finally able to do it," she said.
She is proud that she is able to wear masterpieces and other work of arts by the Filipino people.
"We're finally able to wear a Filipino designer in Miss Universe. It's something that I was looking forward to a very long time and I'm happy that it happened ng hindi pinipilit(that it was not forced). Pinagdasal ko lang na sana mangyari (I prayed that it would happen)... and I'm so happy," she said.
Pia has been crowned as Miss Universe 2015 last December. She is still on her fifth month, but the “most beautiful” girl in the world is already busy with pushing forward her advocacies: HIV/AIDS awareness, fight against cyberbullying, and women empowerment, among others. She is also involved with disaster relief operations and providing programs for children and families struggling to rise up from poverty.
