A Filipino couple has become a viral sensation on social media after what they went through when the Taal Volcano erupted.
KAMI learned that Patrick and Maricar pushed through with their wedding even if their area was heavily affected by the calamity.
According to Patrick’s Facebook post, he and his bride planned their wedding for two years but almost none of their plans came true because of the volcanic eruption. Because of the calamity, they had to tell the guests and suppliers not to come to the wedding.
Despite their ruined plans, the two decided to get married at the San Antonio de Padua Church in Cavite with the help of their priest, Father Ian Empig, who agreed to stay to witness their wedding. Their decision proved that what is ultimately important in a wedding is the love and bond of the two people getting married.
“2 years of wedding planning, nauwi sa wala. Cancelled all the suppliers and told guests not to come at the last minute due to the rapid escalation of volcanic events from alert level 2 to level 4 in less than 12 hours. Got trapped in our preps hotel and had no sleep for fear of the earthquakes, ashfall, and general destruction happening around us. Pero kahit di natin nakamit ang dream wedding natin, for me this is the Best Wedding.. I love you asawa ko, Maricar Gertes! #TheDisasterWedding
“P.S. thank you to all the San Antonio de Padua Church staff and to Father Ian Empig for agreeing to stay para makasal kami.
“P.P.S. Sorry for the ugly crying me @ San Antonio De Padua Church Pooc Silang Cavite,” Patrick posted.
KAMI reported earlier that celebrity couple Jennica and Alwyn Uytingco decided to join the rescue team in Tagaytay.
The Taal Volcano is one of the most famous tourist spots in Batangas. The volcano recently made headlines when it erupted and caused explosions, heavy ashfall, and frequent earthquakes. Classes and work were suspended in many areas because of the eruption.
