5 Famous celebrities who are devotees of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo

Millions of Filipinos are devotees of the Black Nazarene at the Quiapo Church, including several celebrities.

On today’s Feast of the Black Nazarene, KAMI presents to you a list of five well-known Filipino celebrities who have a devotion to the Itim na Nazareno.

1. Coco Martin

Coco Martin has been a devotee of the Black Nazarene since he was a child. He even became more devoted when his prayers for a steady job seemed to have come true.

“Sinasabi ko, ‘Mahal na Nazareno, bigyan Niyo lang po sana ako ng trabaho, kahit ano. Kahit hindi na po ako matulog, tatanggapin ko po iyan, basta bigyan Niyo po ako ng maayos na trabaho na mabubuhay ko ang pamilya ko,” Coco said.

2. Angeline Quinto

Angeline Quinto has been a Black Nazarene devotee for about 17 years now, which started when her mother’s sickness was healed after praying at the Quiapo Church. She even has her own replica of the Black Nazarene in her house.

3. Noli de Castro

Noli de Castro would sometimes take a leave from work during the feast of the Black Nazarene so that he could join the procession. He is one of the most iconic broadcasters in the Philippines.

4. McCoy de Leon

McCoy de Leon expressed his devotion to the Black Nazarene on Instagram, talking about how he was able to go to the statue despite his body aches and exhaustion.

“Maraming salamat lahat salamat dahil hinayaan mo kong makalapit sayo Poong Nazareno. Mahal ka po namin : Salamat sa mga nakasama ko na tinulungan ako pag sampa sa mga taga Wagas Batang Ibarra. Sa mga kaibigan ko at syempre sa Daddy ko,” McCoy said online.

5. Ai-Ai delas Alas

Ai-Ai delas Alas attended last night’s overnight vigil for today’s Feast of the Black Nazarene, giving a talk about the importance of having faith in God. She also posted on Instagram about the difference between venerating sacred objects like the Black Nazarene statue and worshipping God.
