Catriona Gray straightforwardly aired a theory about the much-talked-about blunder in announcing the Best in National Costume during the Miss Universe 2019.
KAMI learned that the host of the program was corrected by Miss Malaysia when he announced the winner of the aforementioned award in the competition.
It was later on revealed through the organization’s social media post that Miss Philippines Gazini Ganados was the real winner of the Best in National Costume award.
During the guesting of Catriona on “Tonight With Boy Abunda,” she was asked to comment on the epic moment that went viral online.
The Miss Universe 2018 confirmed that it was the Filipina beauty queen who bagged the said award.
She also aired a theory about what happened, claiming that the host was not properly oriented of the procedure in announcing the winner for the national costume.
“I don’t know the specifics but my theory is, usually the best in national costume hasn’t been in the lineup of the top 20 sa semis. So in that way, they can change (their clothes). But since Gazini, our winner, Miss Philippines was still on stage as part of the lineup, they got the next… maybe the second (placer)…” she quipped.
“It wasn’t clarified also to the host and to the audience so there’s a little bit of debacle,” she added.
