President Duterte lambasts columnist Winnie Monsod for commending the government

President Rodrigo Duterte is aware that Winnie Monsod, a brave Filipina columnist, recently commended the government for its anti-poverty campaign.

KAMI learned that many people were shocked after reading the December 14 column of the said personality where she claimed that the administration should be congratulated.

Monsod, a former socioeconomic planning secretary, is one of the fiercest critiques of the head of state and his way of governing the country.

She commended the administration for being able to lift almost 6 million people out of poverty within a period of 3 years.

Through Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, the President slammed the said columnist for patronizing the government.

“The President asked me to give his response to this columnist. He said, ‘Tell her I hate being patronized! F you!’” he quipped.

The Palace official also admitted that it was a surprise for him that a staunch critique of President Duterte suddenly praised and lauded him.

He straightforwardly claimed that there might be an underlying reason why Winnie suddenly commended the work of the administration.

“Aren’t you surprised suddenly this columnist is heaping praise on the President?” Panelo stressed.

“From the time this President assumed office, she has not said any good word and then suddenly there is praising. There must be some reason. Is she laying a predicate?” he added.

In a previous article by , the frontman of “U2” named Bono had a “soft message” for President Duterte about human rights.

President Rodrigo Duterte is one of the most popular leaders in the Philippines. He became controversial because of his campaign against narcotics and heinous crimes.
