Recently, there have been reports circulating on social media claiming that former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III was brought to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for a “heart procedure.”
However, KAMI learned that the claim was misleading.
In a report by the Philippine Star (authored by Ghio Ong), Aquino’s former spokesperson, Abigail Valte, has released a statement regarding the circulating issue.
“Former president Noynoy Aquino is at the Makati Medical Center for a scheduled checkup and a routine procedure,” Valte said.
She also assured the public that the former president is “alright” and “in high spirits.”
"While he is currently under observation, I was able to speak to him and apprise him of what is being reported in media. Nagbiro pa na baka daw kaya heart procedure ang balita kasi heartbroken siya,” Valte stated.
"He's alright and in high spirits, and thanks everyone for their concern," she added.
As reported by Rappler, this was not the first time that questions were raised regarding Aquino’s health. Last August, he was not able to attend the 31st death anniversary of his father, late Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.
His sister, Queen of All Media Kris Aquino, has revealed that his brother was “not okay” that time. She also asked for prayers for his brother who needed “strength.”
Born on February 8, 1960, Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III was the 15th President of the Philippines. He is the son of the late Senator Ninoy Aquino and former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino.
