Catriona Gray appeared onstage at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant for the very last time as the reigning Miss Universe 2018.
KAMI learned that she had a special interview with American host Steve Harvey during the pageant.
The beauty queen admitted to feeling emotional during her last day as Miss Universe. She also advised the contestants to feel proud of being able to represent their country and to know the importance of what they are doing.
“I’m feeling really emotional right now. I’m seeing all the girls. I’m remembering that it was just a year ago, I was in their shoes. And now, being in front of you and knowing that another amazing woman’s life is gonna change tonight.
“I would tell them to know what they’re here representing because we women don’t come out here with our name across our chest. We come out here representing a whole country and I want that feeling to fill them with pride and allow them to hold their head up high when they come out here and give it their best,” Catriona said.
In a previous report by KAMI, Boy Abunda opened up about the Philippines’ chances of winning Miss Universe 2019.
Catriona Gray is a Filipino-Australian actress and model, born on January 6, 1994. Catriona’s father is Ian Gray, a Scottish-Australian. Her mother is Normita Magnayon, a Filipina from Albay. She already joined and became a finalist in Miss World 2016 before winning Miss Universe last year.
