Chef turns leftover food from a 5-star hotel in UAE to meals for homeless dogs

A chef in Abu Dhabi has been resourceful and generous to stray dogs.

KAMI learned that Jamal Al Breiki has thought of turning the food waste from a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi to meals so that homeless dogs will have something to eat.

In a report by the Newsner, Jamal owns the food delivery service, Chef J Gourmet. He ran a trial with 5-star luxury hotel Fairmont Bab Al Bahr for “The Doggie Bag Initiative.”

“I spoke to the food and beverage manager at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr about the food that’s wasted after brunch and he was happy to do something about it,” Jamal said.

“My wife and I regularly volunteer for feeding stations and realized how much money people spend on the pet food, so we thought this would be a great way to solve both problems,” he added.

He also worked with the Animal Action (UAE) who brought the food to feed the dogs being taken care of by the Cloud 9 Pet Hotel and Care.

“What a result! The dogs loved it! It was such a great feeling that our testing phase was such a success!” it said in the Facebook post of Chef J Gourmet.

They also urge other restaurants and hotels to join the initiative and help stray dogs.
