Hidilyn Diaz finally won her first weightlifting gold medal at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games on Monday.
KAMI learned that Diaz lifted a combined 211-kg in the snatch and the clean-and-jerk.
In a report by ABS-CBN News (authored by Camille Naredo), Diaz lifted 91 kg in the snatch and 120kg in the clean-and-jerk.
It was the first SEA Games gold medal for Diaz after winning a silver medal in the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympic and a gold medal in Asian Games.
Diaz was the first female weightlifter to represent the Philippines in the 2008 Summer Olympics. She also joined the 2012 Summer Olympics and became the flag-bearer during the opening ceremony.
Meanwhile, Filipina Wushu star Agatha Wong also brought pride to the Philippines by bringing double-gold in Wushu Taolu.
Wong finished with a 9.65 score, acing the Women's Taijian event Tuesday morning at the World Trade Center.
Just two days before she competed for SEA Games 2019, Wong claimed her first gold medal when she won in the Women’s Taijiquan event last Sunday.
Wong also represented the Philippines at the SEA Games 2017 and won gold and silver medals.
