'Bahala na si Batman'
President Benigno Aquino III (PNoy) criticized Davao presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte for his supposed 'bahala na si Batman' attitude. Though not explicitly mentioning the name of Duterte, the president chided the Davao candidate's recent campaign promises of resigning if he fails to curb crime within 3-6 months.
Napag-isip ako: Tama kaya ‘yon?" said PNoy. He emphasized that as an elected official, the president has a duty to carry on despite having some campaign promises not immediately achieved. He called such attitude a 'bahala na si Batman' type of attitude.
Actions judged from wrong perspective
The president also took time to defend his actions during the Zamboanga siege. Critics said that the very fact that Aquino had to be personally there during the crisis despite his then interior secretary Mar Roxas already on the ground shows that the president does not trust him.
Ang akin nga, tanggap kaya ng kandidatong nagsalita na marami pa siyang kelangang maunawaan bago niya asamin ang pinakamataas na katungkulan?", said the president in defense of his personal presence in the Zamboanga siege.
He also blasted back at critics who are implicitly saying how the president should act in terms of crisis. He said that the president should not only be issuing orders and be in a safe distance, but should also be on site to ensure that the orders he will direct to the military and police are doable.
As the election draws near, PNoy has becoming increasing vocal of his defense to his anointed candidate Roxas and critics. He recently criticized presidential front runner Grace Poe for her response to how she would handle the West Philippine Sea dispute for the defense of the country.
