Philippine disaster management agency National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has warned about Typhoon Kammuri that will be named Tisoy once it entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

KAMI learned that Kammuri may intensify to a “super typhoon” as it heads towards the east of the country.

In a report by ABS-CBN News, NDRRMC warned that Kammuri will bring “heavy damage to high-risk structures, unroof houses made of medium-strength materials, damage shrubbery, break or uproot large trees, and topple electric posts.”

According to the disaster management agency, storm surge is also possible in coastal areas. It is expected to enter PAR between Saturday and Sunday.

"PAGASA said that there is the possibility of 'Kammuri' intensifying into a Super Typhoon," NDRRMC said.

As reported by the Inquirer (authored by Frances Mangosing), the NDRRMC also warned for possible flashfloods and landslides in Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa.

The agency said that Kammuri has a similar track to deadly typhoons like Reming in 2006 and Glenda in 2014.

“Let us learn from our history of past typhoons and become more cooperative and become more cooperative and prepared,” Office of Civil Defense and NDRRMC Executive Director, Undersecretary Ricardo Jalad said.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) have been placed on alert for a possible evacuation of displaced residents.
