- A social media post has claimed that Vice President Leni Robredo announced that she will “craft” her survey for drug users
- The post also mentioned that those who will deny their involvement to drugs will be removed from the watch list
- However, it has been reported that the claim was misleading the public
- Vice President Leni Robredo recently accepted the job as co-chairperson of Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD)
An online post has claimed that Vice President Leni Robredo has announced that she will be conducting her own survey for the drug users.
However, KAMI learned that the claim was false.
In a report by Rappler, the post stated that if the drug users will deny that they are involved in the drug trade or using drugs, they will be removed from the watch list.
“Leni Robredo mag susurvey sa mga drug addicts at drug pushers. Kapag sinagot ng drug addict o drug pusher sa survey na hindi siya pusher o addict, tatanggalin ito sa listahan ayon kay Robredo,” it read in the caption.
The post showed a photo of Robredo and a supposed quote from her statement regarding the anti-narcotics campaign.
"The numbers of drug suspects in the file collected by our Law Enforcement Agency are questionable. That’s why I crafted a more efficient way of collecting data. Isu-survey po natin ‘yung mga suspected drug pusher at drug lords. Tatanungin natin isa-isa kung drug pusher ba sila o hindi. ‘Pag sinabi nila hindi, tatanggalin na sila sa listahan,” it said in the photo.
Rappler reported that on November 8, Robredo had her first meeting with the members of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).
“Gusto ko pong malaman ‘yung datos. Kasi before today, I did not have access to the kind of data that you had access to,” Robredo said.
According to the vice president, the data given to her was not also clear. She said that she was told there were about 1.8 million drug users, as per the Dangerous Drugs Board. However, President Rodrigo Duterte claimed that in 2017, it increased to 4 million. In 2019, the President said that it has risen to 7 to 8 million.
“So I said if we started with 1.8 million and we’re 7 to 8 million now, what happened to all the effort?” the vice president said.
As previously reported by KAMI, Robredo has given her entire speech as to why she accepted the job offer of President Duterte.
Maria Leonor "Leni" Gerona Robredo is the current and 14th Vice President of the Philippines. She is the widow of then-Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.
